Firewalker Australian Terriers
In 2003, a young red male puppy came to live with us. Debris from the devastating winds of Hurricane Isabelle had been burning all day. Verifying the flames in the firepit had died to just glowing coals, we called it a night. "Puppy, Puppy, Puppy" had that little guy trotting across the yard in our direction. At the firepit, he didn't stop or go around. With a nice easy trot, he came right across those bright red bits of burning wood! Careful inspection of those little feet provided healthy little pads, not a blister or singed hair to be found! Thus the birth of our kennel name... Firewalker!

Located in Gloucester, Virginia, I am an AKC Breeder of Merit. I breed an occasional litter (~1/year). We health test for the breed recommended CHIC tests before breeding.
As a member of good standing in the Australian Terrier Club of America (ATCA), AKC's national breed club since 2005, I am very active in the breed club: serving on the board of directors for many years, serving on the sustainability committee, contributing as the columnist for the quarterly breed column in the AKC Gazette and editor of the yearly ATCA calendar.
Our dogs are owner-handled in AKC conformation shows, including National and Regional Specialties held by the ATCA. Puppies we have bred have been very successful in performance and companion competitions.
